In September 2018, the Robert Clack School in Dagenham opened a new food tech lab, 12 new classrooms and a ‘Constructionarium’ as part of a £43.75 million investment scheme. This article looks at the project in more depth.
Mid Group Completed the ‘Constructionarium’ in Just 7 Months
As headteacher Russell Taylor points out, the school moto “For the brave nothing is difficult” could not be more apt.
Robert Clack School, situated in Gosford Road, Dagenham, has benefitted from 12 new classrooms, a new food technology lab, new kitchens, and an extended dining hall.
Construction was undertaken by the Mid Group, one of the UK’s fastest-growing construction companies, with Sahel Majali serving as Chairman.
As Darren Cutts of project coordinators Be First explained, the project was particularly rewarding since it included facilities to teach building skills. With a shortage of skilled labourers in the United Kingdom, he pointed out that it is important to help Britain’s young people start careers in construction and carpentry. With the government devoting an extra £3 billion to affordable housing schemes, the building sector offers exciting opportunities for young people today.
Work Started on the Lymington Fields School Facility in October 2018
This £26 million project will provide 42 classrooms, two multi-purpose games areas and a sports hall, providing 1,350 new places for local schoolchildren.
The new facility will form part of Robert Clack School, operating on a different site. As headteacher Russell Taylor points out, the new school will build on Robert Clack School’s proven track record, equipping youngsters with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in whatever field they choose.
Robert Clack School in Gosford Road, Dagenham, combined with the new Lymington Fields facility, will provide places for 4,000 children. When work on the new site is completed in 2020, this highly popular school will be able to offer primary school places for the first time.
Again, Mid Group is responsible for delivering the Lymington Fields project, with Be First coordinating. As Darren Cutts of Be First points out, this successful partnership between the two companies lays the foundations for improved facilities in Barking and Dagenham.
